For me, portraiture is an attempt by the artist to enter into a visual intimacy with the subject, a visual representation of all that is or was with that person. Portraiture replaces the words, actions, moments that we have with that person, with colour, light, form, impression.

That moment, with that individual is made permanent and through the eyes of the artist.
